Human operators then intervene solely to resolve the issue and resume the machine’s operation.

Once all the data has been extracted from the documents (whether they are sales orders, shipping documents, or supplier invoices) and it matches the internal master data and price lists, the agent executes the end-to-end process.
 

  • The role of AI: The agent extracts information, validates data compliance, makes the necessary entries in SAP or the management system, and archives the document in accordance with regulations.
  • Human in the Loop: The operator does not need to perform any manual actions. Once the task is complete, the agent sends the user a detailed summary email outlining the work performed to ensure perfect alignment of information for purely advisory purposes.

Escalation for missing data and asynchronous processing

If incoming documents contain insufficient information, ambiguities, or missing codes that prevent the secure completion of the transaction in the management system, the agent will trigger a support request.

In the most advanced scenario, when faced with complex exceptions or previously unseen data (for example, an order containing a product with no master data history or unrecognized codes) the agent applies deductive reasoning.

 

      • The role of AI: Instead of blocking the workflow, the agent analyzes historical patterns, related price lists, and the structure of existing codes. The agent then autonomously generates or deduces the correct missing record. This completes the entry of the order or document directly within SAP, and the agent provides a reasoned authorization note.
      • Human in the Loop: The process does not require preemptive intervention that blocks the workflow. After completing the operation, the agent sends a summary email detailing the action taken and the logical criteria applied. While maintaining absolute control over data governance, the operator can verify the record directly in the company’s ERP system and make ex-post changes or corrections if necessary.

    What does "human-in-the-loop" mean?

Operators no longer perform low-level, manual, repetitive tasks, but instead assume the role of strategic supervisors who intervene only to guide AI agents when faced with exceptions or data anomalies.
